After the family photos, we went for a drive down the road to some neighbouring properties chasing light and a beautiful setting. Armed with drinks, a tray of canapés and a sense of adventure, we found some beautiful spots for photos. I still remember from my own wedding day many years ago the surreal feeling after the wedding, it was like everything was in slow motion. Atop a ridge bathed in sunlight, chatting with friends, seeing the sparkle in each others eyes, how good is life for Jodie and Peter right now!
There was some water lying, after all, the morning rain had been torrential. We dodged mud puddles and cow pats, saw horses and the sun going down and had heaps of laughs.
Returning to the farm, a game of badminton, time to mingle with guests and then the wedding reception began.
The reception under the marquee was fabulous. A series of long tables, a blackboard menu, room for a hoe down, a cake table with all sorts of cakes, a live band, hay bales, plenty of wine and the promise of great food… what more could you want!
The meal was a series of shared platters, sharing is very popular at the moment in restaurants, the platters delivered were simply delicious.
Guests mingled with Jodie and Peter under the marquee, there was heaps of chat and laughter. Soon it was time for speeches; with Jodie being a lawyer and Peter working in the corporate world, they were both accustomed to public speaking. Yes, there were some obligatory lawyer jokes, what really stood out was how much these guys are suited to each other and the love their guests have for them.
Speeches done, cake cut, time for a hoedown. Soon everyone was on the floor, the party went on long into the night around the bonfire.
