Our destination was St Stephen’s Chapel, 4.30pm was the time Elise and Joe would walk down the aisle together to be married.
I’m getting ahead of myself. I first met Elise and Joe a few years around the time of their engagement. After photographing their engagement portrait, I was thrilled that they chose me to photograph their wedding day.
Elise and Joe had chosen a late in the day wedding ceremony, this way they could spend more time with their guests. So they could have daytime photos, we hatched a plan to do photos together before the wedding.
Elise and Joe prepared in the luxury of the Brisbane Hilton Hotel. When Elise was ready, I had Joe with his back turned waiting in the lobby for her to arrive. Elise emerged from the lift and met Joe on the stairs with a big hug. You can’t do that in church!
The next hour or so was time together capturing images in the heart of Brisbane City. The award winning Darb Bridal Couture in Brisbane Arcade was a place to visit, Brad Webb designed Elise’s dress for her.
Le Bon Choix in Edward Street was a place to relax and enjoy a pot of tea before heading to St Stephen’s Chapel.
Guests were waiting at St Stephen’s Chapel. I’m sure many were wondering where was the groom? In the moments before most wedding ceremonies, the groom is usually present to greet guests before taking his place at the top of the aisle. Elise and Joe’s wedding day was different. As guests were entering the chapel, they were walking from the Hilton Hotel to the Chapel. They arrived together then walked down the aisle together. Theirs was a beautiful wedding ceremony with lots of congratulatory hugs afterwards.
After the family photos and group photograph were complete, everyone walked with Elise and Joe to Malt Dining to join them for their wedding reception.
Elise and Joe, congratulations to you both, it’s been a thrill to photograph your wedding for you
