How do we identify our houses, typically with numbers in Australa. Boring numbers. But this need not be the only way.
These door plaques are from a tiny medieval village in Tuscany’s Maremma called Montemerano. I visited this walled village a year ago today while living in Europe in 2009 and loved the door plaques I found.
The strongest memory of my visit there could not be captured with my trusty Canon however. As we were walking back to the car, the smell of a Chingale (wild boar) stew wafted on the breeze. We found the house responsible, from the second floor, nona gave us a cheery wave, we wished her and her husband buon appetito!

Photos from Montemerano are our Photo(s) of the Day.
