Welcome to our first “Real wedding QandA” feature on our blog.  A special thanks to Amy and Kerry for sharing details from their wedding, I’m sure their wedding will inspire other couples planning their wedding.

So here goes…

Tell us about the proposal…did it go as planned?

Kerry: I took Amy out for a surprise dinner for her birthday at Brett’s Wharf, I organised so that close friend would also attend.  Everyone thought we were there to celebrate Amy’s birthday so it was a relaxed environment.  It was a Friday night and the restaurant was full and my nerves were growing, we had just finished our main meals and I thought to myself  ‘this is it’  I started to make a speech wishing Amy a happy birthday, I couldn’t even string a full sentence together, I then said I have something else to add, I pulled the ring out of my pocket and got down on bended knee and said ‘Amy I love you, will you marry me’?  All I remember was Amy turning to Emma and bursting into tears.  After the longest wait of my life Amy finally turned back and looked at me and nodded saying yes!! I stood up to the entire restaurant applauding; it was a beautiful moment that was sealed with a kiss.

Amy: When we went out for dinner, I just thought it would be Kerry and I, and then when I got there I saw everyone and was quite surprised.  I thought something was up when Emma and Kerry both got up to go to the bathroom at the same time.  When Kerry proposed to me I turned and looked at Emma and burst into tears I was happy, surprised and shocked all at once.

OK, let’s chat about your wedding…

How did you chose your wedding and reception venues? What was important?

We had a work function there many years ago and we fell in love with Sirromet, especially the ‘Barrel Room’.  Amy said that she would love to get married here some day (with a innocent look on her face).  We didn’t want our guests to have to travel from place to place so it was important that Sirromet could look after us and our guests for both the ceremony and reception.

How long did you spend planning your wedding?

12 long months!

What is your favourite wedding day memory?

Kerry: My favourite memory was seeing Amy at the top of the Laguna with her uncle, I was very nervous on the day, but once I saw Amy at the top of the hill all the nerves went away.  I can still picture Amy standing there and it always makes me smile.

Amy: Being able to finally see Kerry, all morning while getting ready all I wanted to do was see Kerry, I missed him.  I thought I would ball my eyes out when I got down the aisle but I was so excited to get married that I couldn’t stop smiling.

Did you have a theme?

Our theme was a Black and White wedding, and we loved it!

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We went to Fiji, Singapore and Malaysia.  All three were beautiful in their own way, Amy loves to travel but this was Kerry’s first trip out of Australia.

What was a highlight from your wedding reception?

We both loved the photo booth John set up, it was fun to pose silly with everyone.  The photos were awesome and im so glad John came up with the idea.

Tell us about your wedding photos. What were you looking for and what was it like being photographed by John Reyment.

We had both seen John’s work previous as he had photographed a close friends wedding, he is an amazing and talented photographer.  When people asked us what photographer we were using we both proudly said John Reyment.  Kerry refers to John as the ‘Steve Irwin’ of photography (don’t tell John), this is because of the passion, love and drive he puts into his work.  John said it was an honour for him to shoot our wedding; well it was an honour for us to have him there on our special day.  The photos were exceptional, the memories that we have looking at them bring tears to our eyes and we would recommend John for any occasion.

Finally, If a close friend was planning their wedding, what advice would you give them?

The fighting is worth it!
