Where do you start to describe a wedding day as fabulous as Lee and Joe’s? They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so this collection should keep the word count down.

A few years ago, I photographed Lee’s sister Helen’s wedding, she married Steve. So to go back and photograph another wedding in the family is a great honor. The wedding was at her parents farm just outside Boonah. This time, everything was green and lush, no prizes for guessing why.

My day started meeting the boys at the pub, they were enjoying a few beers and a friendly wager. Off to catch up with Lee at home, makeup was under way when I arrived. People everywhere, laughter, food, family, now kids (congrats Helen and Steve on Emily’s arrival by the way).

Time to dress, Lee looked absolutely gorgeous in a Wendy Makin gown, all the girls looked fabulous.

Seeing the hills hoist with the pegs, I just had to use this iconic piece of “Australiana” in a photo. We grabbed some balloons and this is one of the images.undefined

Lee’s parents property has a creek on the other side of the back fence, we went done there for some photos amongst the trees, this is a place Lee and her sisters played as kids. I am sure there are stories to tell.

Congrats to Helen and Steve, this is Emily!

The guys look pretty good…

Joe and his groomsmen have arrived, and show time is not far away. Joe greeted guests as Lee hid inside waiting for 3pm. This wedding was to be a little different, there would be more guests at the reception than at the actual wedding ceremony. Why? Well the guests arriving at the reception were invited to their “Engagement” party, and what a surprise it would be to see Lee and Joe arrive, dressed for a wedding and already married.

I love this moment with Joe’s mum.

This moment is after Lee walked down the aisle, there were tears, dad tried to fix them but being a farmer, he didn’t know you have to dab, not wipe. Bridesmaid to the rescue.

The ceremony was beautiful, the sun shining through the trees, just last week it had been pissing down rain with lots of mud. 30+ degree days in the week leading up to the wedding helped dry things out. Hugs and laughter all round after the ceremony, I love these moments with everyone so excited.undefined

While photographing the family, I photographed Lee’s grandparents. I love this image, when I get old, I hope I am this happy.

Sexy light…

Time to head for some photos up a hill, we all climbed aboard some 4WD’s and up we went. Wow, what an awesome view, it was the perfect place to chill and enjoy the moment. With everyone. Cup cakes, bubbly and beer! Perfect.

…and lie on the grass and watch the clouds….

The reception is at Vue Restaurant in Boonah, and we are due there at 6pm. I had calculated we had half an hour drive and half an hour photos along the way.

We stopped next to a paddock with long grass, perfect for some arty images. I lay down and shot through the grass, I love these images. Our return to the cars found a snake next to the car, check this post for the story!

Seeing surprised faces at the reception was a hoot. Laughs, shrieks, wow, what a surprise for those thinking they were coming to an engagement party. Lee and Joe mingled with everyone before they sat down to dinner.undefined

So what a day it was. Driving home, I recounted the moments of the day, excited to see the images when I download. Being a wedding photographer is just awesome, you get to document so many precious moments for very special people.

So thats the “Lee and Joe” story, they will be in the studio next week to see their photos, do you think they will like them? I can hardly wait. Congats guys, best wishes to you both.
