Were you invited? Friday the 29th April will go down in history as a wonderful wedding day and not just for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate.undefined

Shayne and Simon were married on this day and I was there to document the moments for them. What a day it was, a Friday wedding followed by a long weekend is very popular for weddings and a perfect recipe for guests to have a great time.

Simon and his groomsmen enjoyed a relaxing morning BBQ in New Farm Park before getting ready.

Shayne and her bridesmaids prepared at her mum’s place, I love the build up to a wedding, hair, makeup, dresses, people arriving, so much is going on.

As you can see, Shayne looked absolutely stunning, the girls just gorgeous. Everyone says their wedding day goes so quickly, and this day was no different.undefined

It was soon time to leave for the church, Shayne and Simon had chosen the St Stephen’s Cathedral Chapel for their ceremony. The Chapel is dark, cosy and intimate, full of old world atmosphere.

Simon greeted his guests as they arrived, soon everything was in place and ready. A toot of an old style horn from Elizabeth Street heralded Shayne’s arrival. Ken and Robyn from Kenz Classic were driving their famous Jaguars. These classic cars are my favourites, Ken and Robyn are awesome too!

The ceremony was personal and perfect, the wedding rings went on… eventually…and then… the heavens opened. A typical Brisbane storm hit the city just before we were to leave the Chapel. Seeing the torrential rain outside, Shayne asked me, “What do we do now John?”. My reply, “Let’s have everyone congratulate you in here”. And with that, Shayne and Simon worked their way around the Chapel receiving lots of excited hugs and kisses from family and friends.

The storm soon passed, we had fun with the family photos before heading off to New Farm with the bridal party for some photos and relax time.

The rain stayed away just long enough for me to do my thing with my camera; then it was time to navigate the Friday evening city traffic and make our way to Moda.undefined

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Being food lovers, Shayne and Simon had chosen Moda Restaurant in Edward Street for their reception. Javier and Francois and all the team put on a beautiful meal for all.

The bridal table was in the middle of the restaurant, just perfect for everyone to mingle with the bride and groom. This reception had so much atmosphere, a good time was had by all.
