Rob and his groomsmen were enjoying their brunch when I met them at the Cinema Cafe, Bulimba. Wedding day mornings are a time to relax and be in the moment, most grooms seem to do this around something to eat, drink and having time to chat with the guys. Some extra coffees after breakfast and time to fly to see Regina and the girls.

Regina was preparing at her parents home. When a bride prepares at home, you get a special insight into family life. The walls “do talk”, family history surrounds you. Monique from Hollywood Brides did a fabulous job getting everyone ready, thanks so much for getting the hair and makeup for everyone finished on time. You rock!

The first time I was to photograph a Greek Orthodox wedding at the Greek Orthodox Church of St George, South Brisbane was way back in the early 1990’s. Every time I arrive at this church, I am enthralled. Looking around the church, there is just so much detail to take in. Before long, guests began to arrive, greet Robert and enter the church.

Regina arrived with the girls, out of the limo and down the aisle. Ceremony underway. There are so many special moments in a Greek Orthodox ceremony, all fabulous to photograph. I especially love the crowning ceremony and ceremonial walk. After signing the register, Father Dimitri says all is done. Rob and Regina leave the church to the applause and cheers of their guests. Outside, two doves are waiting, (ahhhh, how beautiful) as Rob lifts the lid on the cage they are released.

Hugs, kisses, chat, group and family photos… after a Greek wedding, it’s typically chaos for a little while. Family groups done, it’s time to leave the church with the bridal party. Before the wedding, Rob, Regina and I have picked out some special spots for the photos that will be just perfect. As I drive away from the church, I glance at the clock in my car, we are on time to the minute!

Congratulations to you both Rob and Regina, what a wonderful day you have had so far!

You’ll find Part Two of Rob and Regina’s wedding day right here, there are some photos from their bridal party photo shoot and their Tattersall’s Club wedding reception.
