St Mary’s Kangaroo Point & Tattersalls Club wedding; Congratulations Jen & Peter!

Jen and Pete’s wedding was a day of love and emotion…
After the wedding, the bridal party enjoyed a drink and some canapés at Bistrot Bistro Wooloongabba, one of Jen & Pete’s favourite restaurants.
Our photo shoot trail took in the sights from the Kangaroo Point Cliffs… and a BBQ
The Brisbane Tattersalls Club offers guests a unique old world charm experience right in the heart of the city. Guests mingled in the bar before moving to the dining room.

Speeches were lots of fun, laughter and a few tears!

Jen and Pete’s wedding was an inner city celebration, preparations were in town, the ceremony was at St Mary’s on the Cliffs at Kangaroo Point and their wedding reception was at the charming Brisbane Tattersalls Club.

Their day was just gorgeous and ran like clockwork. It was a day of high emotion, love and laughter for all as you can see in the photos. Our photo locations kept the old world theme going with a stop in the historical end of George Street Brisbane.

Jen and Pete love dining at Bistrot Bistro in eat street Wooloongabba (aka Logan Road across the road from the Gabba) so we went there for some drinks and canapés and time to relax.

Kangaroo Point offers great views from River Terrace, locals and visitors flock to BBQ, walk dogs, rock climb and stroll in the late afternoon cool. We joined in.

Claire always does a wonderful job in looking after here brides and grooms at the Brisbane Tattersalls Club and she made sure all was perfect for Jen and Pete ‘s wedding reception. it was a fabulous night for all, mingling, chatting, catching up with old friends. Dancing too!

Congratulations Jen and Pete, all the very best for your married lives together, we hope you have a blast!

Engagement to wedding, Happy Valentine’s Day!

You’re nervous, pacing, something big, life changing is about to happen, you are going to propose this Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day is THE world’s most romantic day, if you believe all the chocolate, roses, bubbly, lingerie and cards that become precious gifts on the 14^th February.

As a Brisbane based wedding photographer, I get to meet so many lovely couples, each with a story, dreams and hopes. As part of our wedding photography service, we include an engagement portrait shoot which is great for helping you feel at ease around the camera, I also share some tips on how to always look good in a photo. Wedding days are magic, seeing it all unfold is brilliant.

Michael and Crystal’s wedding was sensational. St Stephen’s Cathedral and the Brisbane Tattersall’s Club were the venues, myself and Melinda Comerford were the photographers. Mel photographed their engagement shoot while I was in Europe; their wedding day was perfect in every way.

Meet Jayne and James. I photographed their engagement portrait at the studio and nearby. Their wedding day was grand, lots of fun, memorable speeches, great food. They were married at St Stephen’s Cathedral followed by a reception at the iconic Customs House.

Cass and Clint were married by Father Stephen at St Mary’s Kangaroo Point. It was a beautiful spring day, Cass got ready at Quay West which offered views of both Riverlife where their reception was to be held and the church. There were a couple of showers after the ceremony but this was no drama, guests partied at Riverlife well into the night. Our studio ahs a fabulous courtyard out back with a narrow alley and old bricks, we used this area for Cass and Clint’s engagement shoot.

Spicers Clovelly Estate, Montville was where it all happened for Jaime and Dale. An intimate affair with small numbers, this was a very personal wedding. Chef Cam Matthews delivered a five course degustation; delicious. A dramatic storm at the end of the photo shoot was a dramatic backdrop for their wedding photos. Not long after they booked me, we photographed their engagement shoot at GOMA, a location with so many opportunities for photos.

St Mary’s on the Cliffs at Kangaroo Point, Gorgeous Weddings

Sitting high on the cliffs at Kangaroo Point is St Mary’s Anglican Church. Did you know that in 1823, explorer John Oxley described Kangaroo Point as a “jungle, fringed with mangroves with the higher land open forest, covered with grass”. Hard to believe now of course but you can step back into historic Brisbane when you visit St Mary’s.

St Mary’s has a rich history. Services on the site date back to the late 1840’s with the current church being all shiny and new in 1873.

St Mary’s is one of my personal favourite churches in Brisbane for a wedding; I have shared many special moments with my clients over the years who have chosen to have their wedding there. The location itself is central, provides easy access to Brisbane City and Kangaroo Point wedding reception venues, it also offers a tremendous view of the city not often seen.

I have especially enjoyed the marriage ceremonies performed by Father Stephen Redhead, Rector at St Mary’s since 2003. He has a special and unique way of connecting with the bride and groom and their guests.

“At St Mary’s as well as concentrating on the whole package of a beautiful wedding in the most beautiful church and setting, we also aim to assist people to prepare for the next forty or fifty years of marriage. Marriage is not about one day or a few years” says Father Stephen.

The community at St Mary’s offers more to a couple than just a place to be married on their wedding day. Father Stephen again; “We are very aware that people might feel uncomfortable meeting a Priest for the first time if they are not used to being in a church, we make every effort for people to feel at home, relaxed as this is their place and our team is there for them – just like God”.

“When we meet a couple seeking marriage at St Mary’s, we gently assure them that the church is not a wedding chapel but the centre of a community of faith; at St Mary’s we are here to walk the walk of life after the wedding day – sharing the joys and sorrows that married life brings. I see my role not just as a celebrant (which I am of course), but rather as Priest and companion on the journey”.

The images here are some favourites from weddings I have photographed at St Marys. In addition to a beautiful church to be married in, the grounds offer guests a place to relax with the bride and groom while enjoying a celebratory champagne together. Photo opportunities in the grounds aren’t bad either!
