Congratulations to Brad and Melissa for a beautiful, classically elegant wedding in Brisbane, and what a great day it was.

Melissa peprared with her bridesmaids at Raven Hairdressers, Melissa Coleman was the makeup artist. Brad relaxed with his groomsmen at the nearby Mantra Hotel. Life as a groom at this point is not too stressful, lunch at the Orient Hotel helped calm the nerves.

Hair and makeup complete, Melissa and the girls headed home for a bite to eat and to dress. When I arrived, the aroma from the bridal bouquets was beautiful; you see Melissa is a pretty clever bride and would be florist; she organsied and prepared all the flowers on the day herself. Bravo!

Being a wedding photographer, is a bit like having a back stage pass, you get to photograph all the goings on that most don’t get to see. I love when my brides are all dressed and gorgeous, Brad, look out, Mel is on her way!

I arrived at Old Government House, driving down the walkway I had walked many times in my student days brought back memories of QUT exams, but just for a moment. I’m here to photograph a wedding. Thanks to the staff at Old Government House, parking spot reserved as requested, I really appreciate it.

Brad was greeting guests, looking sharp, the suits sharp. Friendly banter, yes Brad is getting nervous. Melissa’s arrival and entry was awesome, the ceremony fun, touching and beautifully done by Lynette Maguire. She passed on some essential advice to Brad, just three words…”Melissa, you’re right”. Note to self, this is essential advice for all married blokes.

Guests formed a guard of honour as Brad and Melissa exited the building, bubbles blowing. Hugs, laughs, people taking photos. Fun for all. We went upstairs for some photos before heading off to the reception at Customs House.

Being a Friday, the city traffic was busy, the parking fairies lokoed after me. It must be because I had Melissa’s mum, grandma and aunties catching a lift with me. Thanks ladies! Time for a celebratory drink, photos around Customs House before relaxing upstairs. Brad and Melissa had organised a Lolly Buffet, man was it popular, I saw some people making three trips!

The reception was heaps of fun, guests were mingling, laughing, catching up with old friends. The food looked delicious too. Melissa’s mum made the wedding cake; before the wedding I suggested to bring a blackboard and chalk so we could write a “thank you mum” message. Job done.

Brad, Melissa, congratulations to you both, thanks for having me as your photographer, I can’t wait to show you your photos in the studio when you get back from your honeymoon.
