I’m often asked what it’s like being a wedding photographer. It’s a real pleasure sharing so many great times in fabulous places with my brides and grooms. On a wedding day, my camera and I sneak into all sorts of positions to capture emotive images.

When photographing, sometimes I’m quietly capturing images with my camera on “silent mode” being as unobtrusive as possible. At other times, you have to organise and entertain as you work so I do. This is especially so when photographing family groups after the ceremony. On every wedding day, I’m typically doing the super sleuth, the entertainer and anywhere in between.

As I approach every location that I photograph at on a wedding day, I take the view “I’m here to tell a story and capture a moment that communicates with the reader”. The majority of my work is largely unposed, sometimes I give a little direction to help things along before encouraging my brides and grooms to be in the moment. When photographing, I compose my images to ensure each set of images works well together. This approach makes wedding album designs much more cohesive and interesting.

The images you see here are from Anastasia and Nick’s wedding at Sirromet Winery. I wanted to feature our gorgeous couple, a classic car and a stunning late afternoon environment amongst the vines. Sometimes you have great helpers, special thanks must also go to one of Nick’s groomsmen for getting Anastasia’s veil to fly. It was a giggle to watch as it took a few takes to get the veil to fly just right!
