I haven’t been to a wedding in ages… as a guest.

With my work as a wedding photographer based in Brisbane, I go to more weddings in a year than most people would do so in a lifetime. I’m at the age where our friends are married, their kids are teenagers, we are in a  phase right now where there are not too many wedding invitations arriving. I wonder how long it will be before we get invites to our friends kids weddings? Years I hope…

And so it was out of the blue we received an invite to Gary and Ronlyn’s wedding to be held in Camperdown, Victoria. Together for ages, I’m sure everyone in their corner though “about time”. Gary and Ronlyn are so welcoming, their home is open to friends and family anytime.

Karen has known Gary forever, I first met Gary the very first time I went to Melbourne all those years ago courting Karen. Gary was there for us in our formative years as a couple and is one of the most inspirational people you could ever hope to meet.

Camperdown, Victoria is a beautiful town with a tree lined main street, some gorgeous old Victorian buildings and an old volcano out the back. The wedding was to be in the Botanic Gardens overlooking the twin lakes, a cold afternoon with uncertain weather moved it indoors.

After the ceremony and congratulations, Gary Ronlyn and I took a drive up to where the ceremony was to be, this is one of their favourite spots in the district. I just happened to have my camera with me (old habits never die) and I captured them together for the  first time as”husband and wife”. We then returned to the reception to celebrate and catch up with guests and old friends.

These are just a few photos to excite, more to follow later. Gary, Ronlyn, our love and best wishes to you both for the years ahead, it was wonderful to be there with you on your wedding day.
